The Hero Chaos Chao^[1] (ヒーローカオスチャオ^[1], Hīrō Kaosu Chao^?) are species that appear in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a type of Chaos Chao, achieved by a Hero Chao through special methods.

Description

The Hero Chaos Chao are a type of Chaos Chao. They possess blue eyes, a semi-transparent Halo above their heads, long tendrils on their head resembling hair, and crustacean-like hands. Normal colored Chao breeds that evolve into a Hero Chaos Chao will be of a white body and pink highlights on the tips of their hands, feet, and "hair" and have a hot pinkish-red belly. Their general shape resembles that of the Chaos Chao but with minor differences and notably being a pure Hero type Chao. Hero Chaos Chao also resemble their genetic ancestors, the Ancients. The Hero Chaos Chao also appears to resemble an angel; this is in stark contrast to the Dark Chaos Chao, which resembles a devil.

Sonic Adventure 2

In Sonic Adventure 2 and its enhanced port, Sonic Adventure 2: Battle, the player can obtain a Hero Chaos Chao by raising their Hero Chao through special methods. As Chao can obtained in several different colors, Chao can evolve into various colors of Hero Chaos Chao depending on the breed. "Two-toned" Hero Chaos Chao will additionally possess a varying highlight color depending on breed, unlike a singular "mono-tone" color. In the Nintendo GameCube version, it is possible to breed Chao into glitched breeds, some of which will either be transparent or invisible Chao. These breeds extend to Hero Chaos Chao should the glitched breed evolve into such.

Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut

The requirements for obtaining a Hero Chaos Chao are identical to Sonic Adventure 2: Battle. However, because the six playable characters are not tied to any Hero/Dark alignment system, the only way to turn a Chao into a Hero alignment would be through the use of Hero Fruit purchased from the Black Market. Alternatively, it is possible to raise a Chao into the Hero alignment in Sonic Adventure 2: Battle, then trade it into a Tiny Chao Garden where the Chao can then be transferred to Sonic Adventure DX. Note that each game will keep track of its respective list of Animals used onto the Chao in question: if the "all animals" requirement was met for one game but not the other, the requirement will not carry over (but is saved onto the Chao before evolution and only for the game(s) where said Animal requirement was met at).

Sonic Speed Simulator

In Sonic Speed Simulator, Hero Chaos first appeared as a collectible pet of the "Exotic" rarity. It could be obtained by charging the blue, green and purple emeralds during the "Super Sonic: Powering Up" Event. It was later obtainable again by closing illusions (100 in Lost Valley, 200 in Emerald Hill, 300 in New Yoke City) during the second part of the "Super Shadow" Event. It was later obtainable yet again during the "Super Shadow Returns" Event, with the same method of obtainment.

In gameplay, Hero Chaos can be equipped to the playable character, allowing them to fly by the side of the playable character as they move around. In addition, when equipped, Hero Chaos will grant additional Experience Points whenever the playable character obtains a Chaos Orb, additional Rings whenever the playable character obtains a Ring, and additional Damage whenever they attack an enemy or a boss. The player can as well level up Hero Chaos for a cost of Rings and/or Red Star Rings at the Upgrade Machine, with level 25 being the maximum level. Leveling up a Hero Chaos will improve its reward-granting attributes. Additionally, the player can fuse a Hero Chaos by collecting five Hero Chaos, leveling all of them up to the maximum, and bringing them to the Fusion Machine. Fusing a Hero Chaos will result in a singular fused Chao at level 1.
