Amy Chao is a character that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a Chao that resembles Amy Rose and can increase their bonded individual's rewards.

Appearance

Amy Chao have pink, pudding-like bodies with round heads that possess head quills and forehead hair similar to that of Amy Rose, as well as triangular ears on top of their heads. They also have large black eyes, no noses or mouths, round red torsos that are smaller than their heads with a white marking around their necks, smooth feet with no legs, and arms with no visible hands. They also have a floating red dot above their heads, short and round tails, and a small set of wings on their backs.

Powers and abilities

Amy Chao are capable of flight. In addition, they possess the power to increase the rewards granted to the person they have bonded with.

History

Sonic Advance 3

In Sonic Advance 3, the Amy Chao is the form Cheese can assume when Amy Rose performs a Tag Action with Cream the Rabbit. While this Tag Action is in effect, Amy can perform the Chao Attack with Cheese. After a short while though, Cheese will exit their Chao Amy state.

Sonic X Shadow Generations

In Sonic X Shadow Generations, a Amy Chao appears as one of the 54 Chao hidden across various levels. Amy Chao can be found in Rooftop Run.

Other game appearances

Sonic Adventure 2: Battle/Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut

In Sonic Adventure 2: Battle and Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut, the Amy Chao was one of three character-based Chao that could be transferred from a special version of Tiny Chao Garden that was available via promotional demo discs and at public events. The Amy Chao was unable to compete in Hero Races.

Sonic Speed Simulator

In Sonic Speed Simulator, Amy Chao appears as a collectible pet of the "Exotic" rarity. It was introduced with the "Exotic" rarity, but it was later changed to "Legendary". After the Mega Update, its rarity and stats were changed and it later got its rarity changed back to "Exotic". It was unlocked in the game by redeeming the code "SONICCENTRAL" in the Shop.

In gameplay, Amy Chao can be equipped to the playable character, allowing it to fly by the side of the playable character as they move around. In addition, when equipped, Amy Chao will grant additional Experience Points whenever the playable character obtains a Chaos Orb and additional Damage whenever they attack an enemy or a boss.

The player can as well level up Amy Chao for a cost of Rings and/or Red Star Rings at the Upgrade Machine, with level 25 being the maximum level. Leveling up the Amy Chao will improve its reward-granting attributes. Additionally, the player can fuse an Amy Chao by collecting five Amy Chao, leveling all of them up to the maximum, and bringing them to the Fusion Machine. Fusing an Amy Chao will result in a singular fused Chao at level 1.
