The Capture^[1] (キャプチャー, Kyapuchā^?) is an enemy that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a flying saucer-like enemy which dwells on Ares Island and Ouranos Island.

Appearance

Shaped like a flying saucer, the Capture is purple robot with gray and red details around it. It also has an flat top surface with red dome on the center. A pair of smooth-surfaced segments separated from its body on each side, function as the robot's wings with small engines. The suction attachment features small segments floating around the bottom portion, when the Capture becomes active.

Overview

In Sonic Frontiers, the Capture is a type of enemy found in Open Zone fields that include Ares Island and Ouranos Island. They are found stationary above the ground in a one of Open's Zone's wide areas. When the player is near close to its sight, the Capture begins using it absorption attachment on its body and approaches towards Sonic at a medium speed. The Capture is immune to any basic attacks or Skills, while Sonic can get caught into a suction vortex, if he is below the robot at that point. A Chaos Emerald will then be taken away from Sonic by the vortex.^[1]

After catching the Chaos Emerald, the Capture then takes off and attempts to fly away out of sight of the player's reach. While doing this though, it leaves a long, cyan energy trail behind it. Sonic can chase the robot on the ground, but he's unable to reach it directly. Also, the target cursor does not register on the Capture, as the player cannot directly use chain combo attacks or Skills against the robot. The player has to jump on the energy trail before it fades away. Utilizing it as a Grind Rail, Sonic can chase down the Capture quickly in the mid-air by using the Boost. They will default to this state if encountered before retrieving a Chaos Emerald.

The robot flies around a certain route and stops at one place until it repeats its pattern. Sonic can jump off the energy trail to the top of the Capture, as the robot halts at one place. The player can defeat the Capture by performing the Stomp, as the robot gets destroyed from a single hit while dropping Skill Pieces and a Chaos Emerald that the player lost prior the chase (if you lost one).^[1]

Powers and abilities

The Capture is able to hover in midair, and create a UFO-like vortex that can suck up objects such as Chaos Emeralds.
