Poptank^[1] (ニシータ^[2], Nishīta^?) is an enemy that appears in Knuckles' Chaotix. It is a mass-produced, hermit crab-based Badnik model created by Dr. Robotnik.

Appearance

Poptanks slightly resemble hermit crabs. Their shells are lime green, and they have a pink head slightly resembling that of a Caterkiller, with a light gray lower jaw.

Overview

In Knuckles' Chaotix, the Poptanks only appear in Marina Madness. In gameplay, they lack any kind of offensive capability, and simply trundle back and forth on the ground, or sometimes upside-down on the ceiling. As such, any attack available to the player will be enough to destroy them. Like many of the Badniks in the game, Poptanks are powered by synthesized Rings which they drop upon defeat.

In the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics, the Poptanks appear as part of Dr. Ellidy's Badnik forces on Isolated Island.
