Prefect Charyb (チャリブ・ザ・ギゾイド, Charibu za Gizoido^?, lit. "Charyb the Gizoid") is a character that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. He is one of the two prefect Gizoids of the Nocturnus Clan, the other being Scylla.

Description

Charyb is a blue Gizoid that is built much differently than the others, having numerous unique changes in his looks. Described by Shade to be Imperator Ix's most prized warrior alongside Prefect Scylla, he is above Shade herself at least on a base level. He is able to fight underwater and use water-based attacks. When Charyb is in the water, he is almost invincible (taking only one point of damage per hit despite the strength of an attack). His POW moves are Immunity, Regenerate and Mighty Slash, which can inflict Stunned. For his standard attack, he swings his blade increasingly quickly in front of him before releasing a water projectile that deals damage and inflicts Sluggish.

History

Charyb's holographic projection, alongside his parther Scylla would meet Sonic's team the moment they entered Nocturne, delivering the messege of Imperator Ix's plan being set in motion, as well as inviting them to fight them, before running off.

Charyb would show up again in front of Sonic and Tails' group, gloating on his ownership of a Chaos Emerald, before triggering an alarm and running off with a laugh, forcing Sonic and others to chase him as he closed the door behind him.

Charyb would wait and greet Sonic and Tails' group in his personal lair, commenting on their success in reaching him, but would eventually flood the corridor, putting them into disadvantage and ran off, when Sonic and Tails' group tried to fight him, the condition of his lair made him impossible to stop. When Knuckles' and Shade's group took out Scylla, they drained the water from Charyb's lair, allowing them to defeat him.

Personality

Described as a cold-hearted being^[1], Charyb is the opposite of his partner Scylla, being rather calm and collected, but not being above boasting about his power and near-invulnerability while underwater, as well as enjoys to laugh and see his enemies being caught in the fire of Nocturnus forces. Alongside Scylla, he is notable among the Gizoids for his cruelty.^[2]

Trivia

• Prefect Charyb is named after the water beast Charybdis from Greek mythology, who was Poseidon's alleged daughter, and was turned into a bladder-like monster as punishment for conspiring with Poseidon to steal land from her uncle, Zeus.
• Even though Nestor said that Gizoids were never named, this Gizoid was given a name.
• Despite being nearly invincible while underwater, Charyb is weak to the Water element due to being a robot.
• One of the sections of the Twilight Cage is also named after Charyb; it is called Sector Charybdis (Charyb for short).
