The Mon^[1] (モン^[2], Mon^[1]?) is an enemy that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a mass-produced, monkey-based Badnik created by Dr. Eggman.

Appearance

Based off monkeys, the Mons sport an orange body with a jointed tail and a gray muzzle. They have gray hands attached to their arms, each of which are divided into two joints, with one being gray, and the other being orange.

Overview

Mons make their only appearance in Sonic Advance 2, where they appear exclusively in Leaf Forest. In gameplay, the Mons remain stationary until approached by the player, at which they repeatedly leap vertically, as they have they have no methods of moving horizontally. Like with most Badniks, the Mons can be easily defeated using any attack method, where upon their destruction they will release an Animal.

In the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series published by IDW Publishing, the Mons were among the many Badniks that attended Orbot and Cubot's Winter Jam reality show.^[3]

Trivia

• The Mons bear some visual resemblance to the Kikis, as both are monkey-based Badniks with extremely similar designs.
• The attack pattern of the Mons is strikingly similar to that of the Mantis Badniks from Sonic the Hedgehog 3.
