History[]
Classic Era[]
Knuckles' Chaotix[]
Charmy in the Newtrogic High Zone, from Knuckles' Chaotix.
Charmy makes his first game appearance in Knuckles' Chaotix. According to the English manual, he is a friend of Knuckles the Echidna, who is visiting "Carnival Island" to search for new types of flowers when Dr. Robotnik makes a surprise attack on the island. In the Japanese version, Charmy is out doing what bees do best when he arrives at an island and is captured by Robotnik, who is currently taking over the island.
In both cases, he is captured and placed in Robotnik's Combi Catcher, and becomes one of the several characters the player can choose to play as, or play with (as a partner character). Charmy can fly, and as such can do a dash in any direction instead of jumping. He can also start hover, which allows him and his partner to fall at a much slower and more controlled rate.
Modern Era[]
Sonic Heroes[]
Charmy bringing the package from the client, from Sonic Heroes.
In Sonic Heroes, Charmy is part of the Chaotix Detective Agency, along with Espio the Chameleon and Vector the Crocodile. One day he brings a package to the group, which contains a walkie-talkie. The voice behind it (referred as the Client by the team) promises Team Chaotix a large reward of money if they complete some missions for him, which they do. Charmy is the fly type member of Team Chaotix, which lets him air lift the other two to higher areas, or to kick them at enemies.
After "Dr. Eggman" is defeated by the heroes and melts in to a metal puddle. the Chaotix free the client from the room he is imprisoned in. The client turns out to be Eggman, which surprises Charmy and Espio. After Eggman explains that he plans to pay the group after he takes over Earth, the Chaotix believe that Eggman has no money and look ready to attack the Doctor. Vengefully, Charmy starts stinging the doctor with his stinger. After that, Eggman explains to the group that he was locked in the room by someone and Vector asks him who it was.
That someone turns out to be Neo Metal Sonic who had betrayed and imprisoned Eggman, explaining why he needed them to free him. Charmy and his friends arrive to see Neo Metal Sonic proceeding to transform into Metal Madness. Eggman tells the heroes that the only way to defeat it is by using the Chaos Emeralds but thinks that none of them have them. Eggman is then shocked to see the others all with the Emeralds with Charmy holding the cyan Emerald. They then stall Metal Madness by fighting his left side, so that Team Sonic could utilize a super transformation.
After Metal's defeat, Vector is reminded by Charmy about the money Eggman claimed to be rewarding them, they then chase him in anger causing Eggman to run away scared.
Shadow the Hedgehog[]
Charmy and the Chaotix work on a new mission in Shadow the Hedgehog. They all appear in the cut-scene prior to the Mad Matrix stage, but Charmy's most notable part of the game is at the Prison Island stage, in which he is a partner character. When Shadow the Hedgehog goes to the island, he finds Charmy, who explains that Vector sent him there to find five "top secret discs" that belongs to GUN. The player can choose whether or not to help him find these discs or complete one of the other missions. Unlike most partner characters in the game, Charmy cannot be controlled by the second controller in the Nintendo GameCube and PlayStation 2 versions, as he is constantly airborne.

In the Last Story, Charmy inadvertently saves Earth when ramming his stinger into a computer aboard the Space Colony ARK while helping Espio and Vector hack in. By doing this, Charmy activates a videotape of Professor Gerald Robotnik that allows Shadow to break free of Black Doom's mind control.
Sonic Colors[]

Charmy appears in the Nintendo DS version of Sonic Colors as a non-playable character with the rest of Team Chaotix on a mission to investigate Eggman's theme park and also meet Sonic and Tails there, and gives Sonic a mission on Planet Wisp.
Sonic Generations[]
In the console/PC version of Sonic Generations, Charmy attended and helped prepare Sonic's surprise birthday party. As the celebration started, however, the Time Eater suddenly appeared and Charmy was sucked into one of the Time Eater's Time Holes and ended up in White Space, where he was turned into a statue due to the Time Eater's effects.
Charmy after returning to normal, from the console/PC version of Sonic Generations.
Eventually, Charmy was returned to normal by Sonic and Classic Sonic. When the Sonics confronted the Time Eater, which was revealed to be controlled by Dr. Eggman and Classic Eggman, Charmy arrived at the battle with the others and cheered on both Sonics, allowing them both to transform into Super Sonics. When the Sonics defeated the Time Eater, Charmy and the others were sent back to the present. Continuing the party from where it left, Charmy later waved goodbye to Classic Sonic and Classic Tails when they returned to past.
Team Sonic Racing[]
In Team Sonic Racing, Charmy and Espio performed a secret investigation on Dodon Pa during the events of Dodon Pa's Grand Prix and sent reports of their findings to both Vector and Tails.
Sonic Forces[]
In Sonic Forces, Charmy and his colleagues were alongside those who formed the Resistance after Dr. Eggman defeated Sonic (and seemingly killed him) and began his conquest of the world. At some point after the takeover, Charmy and Team Chaotix would organize a town's forces until Eggman invaded it a few days later. During the chaos, Charmy got shot by a Burst Wispon a rookie soldier accidentally fired. When Eggman's robots then forced their way into the village, Charmy and his allies faced them in an all-out battle. Thankfully, the rookie was able to end the battle by damaging Eggman's invasion airship with an artillery cannon. Forgiving the rookie for shooting him, Charmy worked with his team to begin evacuation of the village.[6]
Charmy and the rest of the Resistance, from Sonic Forces.
After six months of warfare, during which the Resistance had failed to make much progress against the Eggman Empire, who had conquered over 99% of the world, Charmy and the Resistance's other core members met up for a meeting at their headquarters. While at that meeting, Charmy was introduced to the Resistance's newest recruit, the Avatar, whom he did not think looked like much. Later, after the Resistance discovered that Sonic was alive and broke him out of Eggman's prison on the rebuilt Death Egg, Charmy would disagree with Vector's low opinion of the Avatar's latest feats.
Charmy and the Chaotix later fought Eggman's forces at Seaside Hill before coming over to Park Avenue and helping secure an escape route for civilians. When Tails and Classic Sonic (who had been brought to Charmy's dimension by Eggman's new power) later joined the Resistance, Charmy learned of Eggman's plan to eliminate the Resistance in three days. About a day later, Charmy observed the Resistance's efforts to hold back an army of mass-produced Death Egg Robots and Shadow in the City, who turned out to be a Phantom Copy. While Sonic confronted the Shadow Phantom Copy, Charmy took part in Knuckles' full frontal assault on Metropolis. However, when Infinite (Eggman's new henchman) appeared and used his Phantom Ruby prototype to cast the Resistance's army into chaos, Charmy urged the Avatar to flee from the battle when the Resistance chose to withdraw from Metropolis after suffering heavy losses.
In the aftermath, Charmy and the Resistance launched another plan to destroy the Death Egg, the power supply for Eggman's Phantom Rubies, in order to shut these weapons down. The plan soon succeeded, and Charmy would watch the destruction of the Death Egg from the Resistance HQ. However, the Resistance discovered while capturing Metropolis that Eggman had a backup reactor for his Phantom Rubies underneath the Eggman Empire Fortress.
Charmy and his friends at the end of the war, from Sonic Forces.
With less than an hour before Eggman put his endgame into effect, Charmy and the Resistance launched one final attack on Eggman's tower in hopes of stopping the Phantom Rubies. As they fought their way through the army of Phantom Copies, E-123 Omega came to their rescue when Infinite got ready to finish them off. It was then, however, that Infinite launched Eggman's endgame: using his Phantom Ruby, he got ready to drop a sun on the Resistance and kill them all. Fortunately, the Avatar was able to neutralize Infinite's sun in the last second using a Phantom Ruby prototype. This allowed Charmy and the rest to resume the fight on the battlefield while Sonic and the Avatar destroyed Infinite and the Phantom Rubies' reactor. Eggman, however, had foreseen this and his used his original Phantom Ruby in conjunction with his Death Egg Robot to create thousands of Phantom Copies to overwhelm Charmy and the rest with. Fortunately, Sonic, the Avatar and Classic Sonic beat Eggman and destroyed his robot, which made his Phantom Copy army vanish and left the Resistance as the victors.
After watching Classic Sonic return to his own dimension now that the Phantom Ruby was gone, Charmy and his friends followed Sonic's example and set out rid the world of all traces of Eggman's reign. At a last meeting in the HQ, Knuckles disbanded the Resistance as the Avatar announced their departure, whom Charmy expressed his respect to. The friends then agreed with Tails that even though they were going back to their old lives, they would be friends forever and keep working together to restore the world.
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds[]
In Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, Charmy would be invited by Dodon Pa to compete in the CrossWorld Grand Prix and use it as an opportunity to promote the Chaotix Detective Agency. He would ride in the Long Stinger machine which can transform to function on land, seas or air.

He eventually returned to the British Museum, where he met Sonic, Tails, Mario, Luigi, Toad, and Espio, whom he reported back to. Although he did not remember the exact places where the Fog Machines were located, he could direct them to four different locations around London where Dr. Eggman and Bowser's minions were causing trouble. Charmy subsequently set off with Luigi to the London Tennis Club, and they both witnessed Waluigi's fight with Metal Sonic. The two of them decided to follow the pair to Eton Dorney. There, they met Mario and Toad, who were following Wario and Eggman. They would then watch Wario and Waluigi take on Dr. Eggman and Metal Sonic before destroying the Fog machine. They then left Wario and Waluigi to deal with Metal Sonic and Dr. Eggman before heading back to the Main Stadium. There, they met Sonic, Tails, Espio and Omega. Soon after though, Eggman and Bowser unleashed a stronger dose of the Phantasmal Fog all over London. Charmy, Espio, Omochao, Omega and Toad, however, managed to clear the stadium of the fog, and reported their feat back to Sonic and Mario in order to support them during their showdown with Eggman and Bowser. Charmy later showed up at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games. Additionally, while Charmy himself does not appear in the bonus episodes, a Lakitu is transformed by a Magikoopa to look like him in "The Life of a Minion".
