Description
Anatomy
Dark Chao have pudding-like bodies with round, waterdrop-like heads. They also have large eyes, no noses, and large sharp teeth. They have round torsos that are smaller than their heads, smooth feet with no legs, and arms with no visible hands. In addition, neither their arms nor feet have digits. They also have devil-like tails and a small set of wings on their backs. Dark Chao have spiked orbs floating above their heads. Their body color varies depending on who raised them and what creatures they were exposed to.
Biologically, all Dark Chao are genderless, and like other Chao, they age and grow via reincarnating after encapsulating themselves in a cocoon, after which they reemerge into different forms.
Characteristics and culture
Like other breeds of Chao, Dark Chao are social and sapient creatures, being capable of complex facial expressions and have self-awareness. Despite their name, they are not innately evil beings, although they do have a bit more of an aggressive and violent nature, as shown when Crusher the Chao immediately tried to bite Sonic during their first encounter. Like other Chao types, Dark Chao generally behave like human infants.
Dark Chao live in areas of the planet known as Chao Gardens, which are highly suited for the needs and living conditions of any Chao. The mystic energies of the Chao often lead to the manifestation of Lake of Rings in these areas.
History
Waves of Change
Crusher the Chao, the pet of Razor, is a Dark Chao that accompanied Razor while he guided Sonic and the other Freedom Fighters during their visit to Meropis. Crusher usually stood in the background around Razor, occasionally reacting to what was going on, but he also participated in fighting off the Dark Gaia creatures when the Protective Shield around Meropis deactivated.[1][2][3][4]
